Monthly Recap: March

Okay so it is the middle of April but these first 12 days have been CRAZY busy! I work in a Tax/Accounting firm during the day and like many of you know…its TAX SEASON!! So yeah, it has been nuts…BUT I wanted to make sure I shared with you what I did last month and some fun finds. I hope you all had a wonderful month and got to enjoy some of the sunshine that is finally starting to shine through!

The Fillmore
  • Mr. Tipples Jazz Recording Studio – we had plans to go to the Black Cat…and then two hours before we were supposed to go they canceled on us “due to an issue that closed down the restaurant.” But we reallllllly wanted to see some jazz so as a referral we went to Mr. Tipples and it was FABULOUS!!! If you are in the mood for a no-cover, great vibe jazz club – go to Mr. Tipples!!
  • Pimps of Joytime at The Fillmore – this was my first time at The Fillmore and the Pimps of Joytime did not disappoint. This fun, upbeat group drew a crowd of all ages and the most diverse demographic I have seen in a  long time at a concert. If they come to a venue near you, you MUST GO!!
  • Preseason Giant’s Game! I was lucky enough to get tickets to one of the preseason games and it was an absolutely beautiful night. Next time I go, I am going to need to check out the new food options…pretty posh for a ballpark!

  • Albarays – Mission | Cajun – NEW FAVORITE – this place is unreal. We felt like we were in New Orleans and literally ordered 3/4 of the menu because we couldn’t decide. Can’t wait to go back!!*
  • Cala – Civic Center/Hayes | Mexican – This was the second time I had been to Cala and it was just as good as the first time. You have to order their sweet potato with bone marrow salsa negra – to.die.for**
  • La Briciola – SoMa | Italian – The most perfect “mom and pop” authentic Italian restaurant – huge favorite that I love to bring visiting guests to when they are in town!**
  • Sequoia – Financial District | American/Lounge – The new lounge on the 4th floor of Wayfare Tavern – if you can, go to the back and sit in their “vault room” (see above) – small food menu but drink list is awesome!*
  • Bar Bocce – Sausalito | Pizza – Amazing waterfront gem in Sausalito – great brunch as well as dinner – GET THE KALE PIZZA**
  • Beretta – Mission | Italian – Went for brunch – still need to go here for dinner – order: walnut bread with burrata and mushroom-truffle honey – 10/10**
  • Sow Juice – Ferry Building/Embarcadero | Juice – After shopping the farmers market, I stopped by to grab a juice for the walk home. Delicious juice!!*
  • Coffee Cultures – Financial District | Coffee Bar – Randomly stopped in here for an after-lunch coffee and ended up loving it! A fun quick stop if you are in the financial district and need some caffeine! They also have an affogato if you  have a little more time…*
  • Jackson Place Cafe – Financial District | Cafe – We went to coffee one afternoon for a brain break and happened to stop by on their 10th anniversary! They were serving free treats, coffee and wine – love the ambiance of the place as well as the location – definitely going back!*

*new restaurant **old favorite

  • Missing Richard Simmons – Podcast – I listened to the first episode of this and thought it probably wouldn’t be worth listening to for all of the episodes since I have never really been a fan of Richard Simmons (nothing against the guy!). I was wrong – this podcast is really interesting and digs into the life of the one and only Richard Simmons who has “vanished” from the public eye.
  • Tinker Hatfield – Netflix – The second episode of this series, called Abstract – the Art of Design, highlights one of Nike’s most influential shoe designers, Tinker Hatfield. A must watch!
  • FoodStuff – Podcast – Stories and Science behind some of our favorite foods!
  • Billions – Showtime – I LOVE this show – it is on the second season so if you haven’t watched it – you can binge to catch up pretty quickly!
  • S-Town – Podcast – BINGED –  Go. Listen. Now. From the producers of Serial – so you know its going to be good!
